Cookies & browser storage
How this website uses browser storage, embedded services and external links.
1. About this policy
Gary Firth trading as GF Sealants, 52 Iveson Rise, Leeds, West Yorkshire, LS16 6LN, United Kingdom. Email info@gfsealants.co.uk or telephone 07896 554 355.
This policy covers gfsealants.co.uk. Cookies are small pieces of information stored by a browser. Similar technologies include local storage, session storage and tracking pixels. Rules can apply to storing or accessing information on your device even where it is not called a cookie.
Our separate business app may use storage for sign-in and offline features; this website notice is not an inventory of the app’s authenticated storage.
2. The difference between cookies and web requests
A first-party cookie is associated with the site you are visiting; third-party storage is associated with another provider. Session storage normally lasts for the tab’s session, while persistent storage can remain until its expiry or deletion. Browser session restoration can sometimes preserve session information.
Loading a font, script or embedded widget also makes a connection to its provider. That connection can disclose an IP address, browser information and the referring page even when no cookie is set. Our Privacy policy explains personal-information handling.
3. Storage used by our website design
| Name | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| gfs-seen | Session storage remembering whether the opening animation has been shown. | Browser tab session. |
| gfs-leave | Session storage coordinating a transition between pages. | Read and removed on the next page; otherwise the tab session. |
| wpEmojiSettingsSupports | WordPress session storage caching whether the browser can display emoji correctly. | Tab session, with a seven-day freshness check in the script. |
| gfs_preview and wpSGCacheBypass | Cookies used for an explicitly requested design preview and to avoid mixing preview pages with cached public pages. | Up to 30 days; removed when preview is switched off. |
Preview cookies are not required simply to browse the normal public site. Administration sign-in can introduce separate WordPress authentication cookies for authorised users.
4. Embedded reviews, social content and fonts
Reviews and social feeds are provided through Elfsight. Google-hosted fonts support the site’s typography. These services receive technical connection information when loaded and may apply their own storage or access technologies depending on the feature, browser and provider configuration.
Read Elfsight’s privacy notice and Google’s privacy notice for their processing practices. An external provider’s notice does not replace our responsibility for technologies used on this website.
5. Analytics and advertising
The previous version of this page named Google Analytics, Meta Pixel and Hotjar. Those names alone were not evidence that each service was active. The public website implementation checked for this update did not identify an active installation of those three tracking services, so this notice does not present them as verified active tools.
If optional analytics or advertising technologies are introduced, the information and controls must be updated to reflect their actual purpose, provider and duration before use.
6. Consent and your choices
UK rules require consent for storing or accessing information unless a specific exception applies. Whether an exception applies depends on the purpose and its conditions, not simply the technology’s name. Advertising tracking requires consent. Reading this policy or continuing to browse does not by itself provide consent.
You can use browser privacy settings to inspect and remove website data, block third-party cookies and restrict tracking. Clearing data may reset preferences or require you to sign in again. Browser blocking is an additional choice and does not replace any consent mechanism the website is legally required to provide.
7. Managing browser data
In your browser settings, look for “Privacy”, “Cookies”, “Site data” or “Website data”, select gfsealants.co.uk and review or remove its stored data. Controls vary by browser and device. A private browsing window may reduce retained data after the session ends, but it does not prevent every connection to an external provider.
Choices made on one browser or device do not necessarily carry over to another. Blocking all storage or scripts can affect forms, embedded content or site presentation. You can contact us by telephone or email if a feature is unavailable.
8. External links and newsletter forms
Following a link to WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn or a review platform opens an external service whose storage settings are controlled there. Newsletter and enquiry forms may pass submitted information to service providers; that processing is explained in our Privacy policy and is separate from whether a cookie is stored.
9. Changes and questions
The update date identifies this version. Provider behaviour and website features can change, so this description should be reviewed when integrations change. Contact us if you want to query a technology or report unexpected tracking, including the page and browser involved. See the ICO’s information about cookies for further guidance.
